About the event
Design Your Own Ceramic Tools with 3D Printing
Are you a ceramic artist looking for new ways to personalize your process? In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to design and 3D print your own custom pottery tools to elevate your clay work.
Many ceramicists use ribs, texture rollers, stamps, and other tools every day—but what if you could create tools tailored specifically to your style? In this class, we’ll explore how 3D printing can expand your creative toolbox.
You’ll learn how to design simple custom tools using beginner-friendly 3D modeling software and see how those designs are prepared for 3D printing. We’ll discuss different types of tools ceramicists commonly use—such as ribs, stamps, and rolling patterns—and how digital design allows you to create textures, patterns, and shapes that would be difficult to make by hand.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll have designed your own custom ceramic tool and gained the knowledge to continue creating new tools for your studio.
This class is perfect for:
Ceramicists and pottery hobbyists
Artists curious about combining digital tools with traditional craft
Anyone interested in expanding their creative toolkit
No prior 3D printing or design experience is required—just bring your creativity.
